Deciding on which terms and fields to use to catalogue the items in DIG Sex was not easy. As any student of history knows, language changes. What historians call an era or period is not always what the people living through it called their time. The same is true of behaviors and identities. Plus, what is considered acceptable terminology in one period or in a particular context is not always appropriate in others. We tried to apply as many terms for each item in order to increase the likelihood that you can find what you need. The exhibit "What's in a Name?" provides four lists of Key People and Groups, Main Events, Time Periods and Eras, and Keywords/Subjects. Refer to these lists if you are having a difficult time producing results in DIG Sex.
